"Emotions should be understood as 'geological upheavals of thought.'" Martha C. Nussbaum (referencing Proust)
Caregiver Burnout - Ai-jen Poo, Episode 246 of WCDHT:
"Other countries have a social safety net. The U.S. has women." Jessica Calarco
My current geological upheaval has moments of levity. The dog micro-dosed an edible by accident and took a really great nap. My son played the recorder, off-key but with great enthusiasm, as he rode his skateboard to school. My daughter found the most adorable audio book contraption at her school library and has been walking around with earbuds like a little teenager. Most recently I had to use a syringe to clean my dog's a$$. The fun never ends.
I'm trying to eat healthy and move my body - yoga, running. I'm tapping into my support network. I'm listening to a lot of music, from Wagner (Tannhauser Overture - trombones are the bomb) to Halsey (No I won't smile but I'll show you my teeth....I'm tired and angry but somebody should be). I'm at turns frustrated, sad, and hopeful.
